Update Linux
Update the system using the menu items: system, administration, update manager.
Do both:
- upgrade (to Ubuntu 9.04 or higher)
- update (after upgrade probably not necessary)
Install scripts
You may type all commands yourself by hand.
For your convenience, most commands are collected into a few files
that you may download here.
- Start a browser on the BBS2, and go to here: //http:/bbs.geens.nl/07.get_these_scripts.
- download the tar-file to root's home directory and untar it there to $HOME/bin:
click right here to download
bin.tar
download file bin.tar
click right here to download
to_raid.tar
download file to_raid.tar
Or on a server (without a http browser) use the command:
wget http:./to_raid.tar
- Start a terminal and login as root (su -).
- extract the tar file on root's home directory,
resulting in a directory /home/to_raid with some files:
tar -xf /tmp/to_raid.tar
- In the /root/home directory edit a file ".bashrc", append a line:
PATH="$PATH":$HOME/to_raid
- exit the root shell.
The files beginning with a number should be executed in numbered order.
The others are just there for support.
You may wish to edit some files before usage,
to reflect your wishes about partition sizes etc.
Especially:
- variables.sh contains disk names where to boot from.
- logical-volumes.sh states the logical volume sizes
